The month of March is always a busy one, with the exams of my Harp Pupils, the Urdd Eisteddfodau taking place and everything else that goes on in March with the Saint Davids Day celebrations.

I had booked a recording session at SAIN to get started on the new solo album. My last solo album, “Summertime” was released in 2006 and has completely sold out as did the first solo album “Dylan Cernyw”. All went well with the recording of the new album with all 12 tracks down. I have gone back to my roots with this one like the first album… Solo with no frills if you like! No backing tracks, just the sound of the harp. There is something special about this new CD though as there are two bonus tracks on it under the name Arpe Dolce… my new venture with Angharad Wyn Jones as a Harp Duet

We had our launch concert / live performance last week at Venue Cymru with Hogia’r Ddwylan, The Military Wives Choir, Gwawr Edwards and David Kempster. This charity evening was amazing and we had lots of fun!  We certainly did launch the duet, with good feedback and kind words received I thought we could add two tracks on my new album so people can hear what we’re all about. The pieces we chose to put on my solo album were two pieces played at the Venue Cymru launch / concert.  One piece you might have heard before by various artists but the second is well a Welsh piece to which we’ve added our own latin feel! Release date for the new album “Home ~ Cartref” will be out soon. 

Its April already and I’m writing this Blog on the way to Ireland to represent Wales at the Pan Celtic Festival as a performer, accompanist and judge…. Loads of fun, eight choirs,  soloists, dance groups and instrumentalists. I’ll write what I might remember (after a bit of Guiness after the week ahead’s festivities!

Yesterday both a sad and a happy day when I left my post at one of Wales’ finest food companies; Blas ar Fwyd, in Llanrwst.  I have been working with my colleagues there two days a week for the last two years as the webmaster, and marketing person. I can honestly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the work there! This past two years were my second stint at the company where I previously worked as a PA to the DM back in 2001. 

Over the Christmas period I’d thought and thought of what I wanted to do next and what plans were coming for the future. Being somebody who doesn’t like to sit still, I enjoy performing, teaching and travelling and therefore something had to go to make way for all the new plans!

I left on Thursday 16th Feb, and threw myself straight into the hard work of selling myself, my music and my CDs.  Piantel had a concert last night with guests at Henllys Hall, Beaumaris. Annette and I both enjoy working together as and we have a lot more in our repertoire to offer our audiences. We are travelling down to Clacton on Monday for a concert… all the details are on my webpage diary! This concert we’re told has sold between 700 and 800 seats to last Sunday which is a fantastic boost to our confidence and hope we can wow the audience with our programme!

My latest project is of course the new Harp Duet ‘Arpe Dolce’, a harp duet with a difference… Anghard Wyn Jones and I love a Jazz side of the music and both of us are keen to show off what we can do with the harp to everybody… we want to wow our audiences with the fantastic sounds a harp can create and persuade some sceptical people that a harp is not ‘just a classical / traditional instrument’

I have two CDs to add the finishing touches to within the next couple of months… one is of course our Piantel CD and the other is my own solo album, the third solo album…. there’s plenty to keep me out of mischief over the next few weeks I’m sure!

Esmor Davies has invited the 100-strong choir, who touched the nation with their 2011 hit Wherever You Are and gained the coveted Christmas No. 1 spot in the charts, to sing at Llandudno’s Venue Cymru.

 I’ve just returned form South Wales.  I was taking part on the S4C programme Wedi 7 in Llanelli.  I was a guest on the programme talking about my work, concerts, up and coming tours, concerts, and projects.  

Newydd ddychwelyd o’r Dé. Roeddwn yn cymryd rhan ar raglen S4C, Wedi 7 yn Llanelli. Roeddwn yn westai i John Hardy ac yn cael y fraint o siarad am fy nghwaith, cyngherddau a phrosiectau sydd ar y gweill!

I had a few recitals over the Christmas period as well as the annual concert of the William Mathias School Services held at Bangor Cathedral. The Senior Harp ensemble did us all proud and to put even more pressure on they were performing two of my own arrangements of Welsh Christmas carols, a big thank you to them! 

New Years Eve was a really busy time for me as I finished the year off in the company of friends, colleagues and some celebrities….. I was performing at ‘Gwesty’r Castell’ in Caernarfon where it was more of a sing along session. In other words they hum it and I played it. A good old Welsh evening / Noson Lawen style affair, nothing formal at all about the evening. I finished off at aroung 2.30am with a hand covered in blisters and a clear head (what a change for a New Years Eve!)

So…what will 2012 bring?
